About

Born in 1973 and raised in the small industrial town of Pontypool, South Wales, UK. I had the pleasure of living extremely close to the award winning Pontypool park, which had a major influence upon me. Not only was it a great place to explore and have fun as a child but it became a place of escape with wonderful calming qualities, giving much creative inspiration as I got older and sparking my interest in nature. On the other hand, the industrial side of this rugged town has also captured my imagination. Being form a working class background has also given me a depth of understanding into the social issues that affects such small areas of the UK.

Educated at Pontypool College, where I studied Art and Ceramics, I had the privilege to have been taught by established artists such as Contemporary Artist Dave Garner and Ceramicist Billy Adams. As a teenager I couldn't have asked for a better foundation. I then went on to attend The University of South Wales, Caerleon (formally known as Caerleon Art College), where I studied a Media and Visual Culture degree. This is where my interest in Documentary Photography bloomed and I was fortunate to be taught by Photographer Pete Davies.

For many years I worked as a Freelance Art Tutor, for both Torfaen County Council and Newport City Council. Teaching a wide variety of groups, from young offenders to child carers, adults and children with learning difficulties to people with mobility problems. All of which brought me great joy, just seeing how a few hours a week being creative can help someone else's wellbeing.
In 2016 I was blessed with being able to live in Japan for almost two years (due to my husband's job). I got to experience a whole new way of life, with its wonderful gardens/parklands and energetic cities to explore. Not to mention its culture and social issues, which has a dark underbelly much like my homeland, different, but fascinatingly similar.

I may have started my journey as a Sculptor later in life but it hasn't been fruitless. My great love of anything mid 20th century has opened my eyes to some of the most beautiful things humankind has created. Whilst my experience of life in the South Wales valleys has provide me a rich understanding sociological matters and mental health issues, some of which has affected me personally - These are my greatest sources of inspiration.
